Laser back surgery becomes widely used
Also referred to as laser back surgery, a laser back surgery is the minimally invasive procedure aimed at treating a broad area of back conditions. It will fix herniated discs, pinched nerves and spinal stenosis in the upper or lower back conditions. For example, in microdisectomy, a thick needle is inserted into a spinal disc. Inside the needle, a laser fiber is passed into the tissue. Activating the laser will cause the close-by disc tissues to vaporize, and the surrounding tissue to withdraw into that area. A microscope is also inserted in the area, allowing the surgeon to guide the laser precisely. However, since the laser back surgery procedure has not been used for a considerable period of time, some insurance providers will not cover it, thus posing a financial challenge for the patient. Individuals that have undergone the procedure have reported satisfaction and consider it a good investment. In fact, the usual cost of a laser assisted surgery is 70-80% less that of traditional or older methods.
