Different types of wheelchair batteries

Wheelchairs which run on a battery are generally for those people who are not able to move their wheelchairs themselves. In this wheelchair there is a separate control system. Just like other batteries, wheelchair batteries also have an extended life if handled properly.  Wheelchair batteries  come in two different types – one is wet cell and second is gel cell. The batteries for wheelchairs are also available in three different sizes, such as 22, 24 and 27. The 22 size battery is considered as a standard size battery whereas 24 sizes provide high performances and the 27 size is generally used for extended travel distances. The wheelchair batteries are also rated in amp hours. Higher numbers of amps means more powerful battery. The amp hour rating of wet cell as compare to gel cell battery is 10% higher. That is why it is advisable to consider the gel cell battery.
