High arches and its Causes

High arches may or may not be a problem since if the arches of the foot are high, it does increase the weight bearing load on the forefoot and heel, as the midfoot does not share in the weight bearing. A pathological high arch foot is called pes cavus. The problem with a high arch foot is if they are progressively getting higher. If this is the case then it should be checked out for a neurological problem, such as Charcot Marie Tooth disease, which can cause a high arched foot. However, there is a plenty of variation in the population in the height of the arches of the foot that what it causes.
