Too Young for Credit Cards?
Many of my friends in college got caught in the trap of paying for their textbooks with credit cards and not being able to keep up with the payments. They just kept charging more and more things until their parents would have to step in. Now, I’ve been hearing about parents giving their high school students credit cards. I don’t think kids that are still in high school have the maturity or responsibility to handle credit cards, let alone the credit card debt. The jobs they work don’t make enough to support many of their spending habits, and too often the parents just bail them out. This creates irresponsible young adults. I think parents should make sure their children can handle credit cards before allowing them to purchase whatever they want with them.
