The Well in Mambwa

Thanks to donations from various bodies including the Drinking Fountain Association- found at drinkingfountains.org, the state of things in Mambwa, in the Western Province of Zambia, are looking up. Not only has a new Well been set up, so that residents have regular access to safe, drinkable water (much like public Water fountains) , but each person is also donating 10 pence (in their currency) every month, to ensure that the well is maintained and lasts. Two people have also been fully trained to maintain and service the well, so that it remains sanitised and clean. Before this, villagers would have to trek miles to get dirty water from a small open waterway.
